Laser VS IPL Hair Removal

Laser Hair Removal and Intense Pulsed Light are two terms often confused. While both use light to cause thermal damage to the hair follicle, effectively destroying the hair causing it to fall out and never grow again, the two methods are in fact very different!

With both these treatments the absorption of light by hair is dependent on the wavelength (colour) of the light. IPL uses a much broader spectrum of light than laser. Consequently, IPL is suitable for a wider range of hair colours and skin types, meaning it is considered a more versatile tool. Where Laser is best used on dark hair with pale skin, The E-One which utilizes IPL can be used on all skin/hair combinations (excluding black skins), meaning blonde hair, tanned and fake tanned skins can all experience the hair free benefits!

The broad spectrum of IPL light also results in the light penetrating the skin across a wider range of depths resulting in a greater number of hair follicles being treated. This is why the E-One is suitable for use on the whole body, providing full hair removal coverage as opposed to Laser Hair Removal which is specifically tailored to an area. In addition, IPL causes less damage to the surrounding skin than lasers and, therefore, the risk of skin pigmentation/depigmentation is much lower. This makes it a better option for those with darker skin tones who are at a higher risk developing this condition. Clinically trialled, IPL is considered less invasive than laser hair removal, the E-One is the only device to have a medical certification for at home use. Brilliant, permanent hair reduction using IPL is as easy as E-One, 2, 3…
